Chincha!

As the idea of moving in with my significant other becomes clearer and more comfortable with each passing day (it does help that I spend 99.9% of my time at his place) , so does the thought that I would have to part with my roommate, and her two awesome and lovable labradors, Riggs and Marley.

I do love pets, and have had all sorts of the furry darlings every since I can remember. My first pet was a set of guinea pigs who were so cute, and grunted and squeaked and were pretty much your average docile children's pets. They had babies of their own, and we had our first look at natural childbirth, the guinea pig way, which was pretty gross, ehe. The babies were certainly adorable, although the mommy guinea pig gave birth to a total of 8 babies in the litter, giving my mom new worries about how my brothers and sisters and I would be able to take care of the brood. Fortunately or Unfortunately, a week or so later, my younger brother took four of the babies out to look at them, cuddle them and squeeze them...and ended squeezing/ squishing them to death! He was SO horrified by what he had done, and we were all so traumatized at what happened, that my mom ended up giving away all of the guinea pigs (mom, dad and babies) to our cousins. My mom made up for that by giving us a german shepherd puppy, (which she privately surmised would be too big to be squished to death), and we discovered the awesomeness of dogs :-)

Dogs are awesome, but not allowed at where my bf lives, so we started looking at something smaller, hoping that we could get away with having a small animal around. In particular, we are looking at chinchillas, small rodents who are native to South America, and whose fur is so so soft, that they are raised particularly for their skin, which can be made to coats and what-not (TOTALLY GROSS)

So far, all I have is seen is cuteness, CUTENESS, CUTENESS ! ! ! They jump around all over the place, have dust baths, and are known to be pretty smart animals :-) I have attached a video I found, and hope you enjoy it, I know I did!
