A Nervous Excitement

I am Ridiculously Excited. Ever so often, I click on my secret window on my PC to check on the polls, and ever so often I offer up another round of prayers to the one above that this day be a dream come true for those who want and need REAL Change. This is a historical day and to be able to witness it is quite amazing to me.

I do regret that I wont be as much a part of it as I want to. You see, I am not allowed to vote. I do not have that right. why?

I am but a resident alien, a legal immigrant, a green card holder. I was born in the Philippines, though I grew up here, and attained my green card status early on. Alas, I was of the kind that loves to travel, and travel I did, thinking that it wouldnt put harm on my quest to becoming a full-fledged American citizen. I thought wrong, the day I went in to submit my application to become an American citizen. Since I had been going in and out of the country so long and so frequently, I didnt have enough solid years to show that I lived in the US for sure. I was told that I needed to stay put for another three to four years, then I could submit my application. I was allowed to travel, but only for up to two weeks at a time.

I know, bummer.

2010 is when I get to apply, and hopefully, get sworn in as a full-fledged American citizen. And come 2012, I will be able to vote :-D

So yes, if you are an American citizen, please exercise your right to vote, I know I would if I was.

Change is A-Coming !!

Well, that sucks! If it's any consolation, I think I voted the way you would have! :-)
